Ryves Holt House

Information

The Ryves Holt House, built by Dutch settlers in 1665, is thought to have been constructed 30 years after the destruction of the Zwaanendael colony. This house survived the Lord Baltimore raids which would eventually give the English control of the area. Ryves Holt, the home’s namesake, purchased the home in 1723. It is the oldest home in the state of Delaware still on its original foundation.
